For an Expedition trailer, a vehicle with a towing capacity of 3,500 lbs. is required. A Getaway trailer requires a vehicle with a towing capacity of 2,500 lbs. Both models come with an Anderson plug capability.

No, it is not required; however, it is highly recommended for the best experience while exploring or going off roading!

Will a Turtleback Trailer fit in my garage?

Trailers can vary significantly in height depending on wheel / tire options, roof rack, and tent selection. During your consultation, it’s always wise to measure the opening of your garage to ensure your trailer will fit, or help you plan for alternative accommodations.

How can I charge my trailer?

A vehicle with an Anderson plug can charge while being towed. An Anderson plug is NOT standard on most vehicles, so this may need to be added. When overlanding, solar panels can be used, or shore power at your campsite when available.

What type of battery can be installed in a Turtleback Trailer?

Turtleback Trailers can accommodate almost any lithium battery.

Does your trailer include a water filtration system?

Yes. A UV / carbon water filtration system is standard on all T3 trailers and is an option on T2 packages.

How much water does it hold?

An Expedition trailer has a 42-gallon water tank, while the Getaway trailer has a 21-gallon water tank.

No, every trailer comes with a hitch receiver for your vehicle.

Yes! Barring the doors aren’t submerged, a Turtleback Trailer will cross water with no issue.

Do your trailers have heating or air conditioning?

Turtleback Trailers do not come standard with heating or air condition for the rooftop tents. There are several companies that manufacture units specifically for heating and cooling a rooftop tent.

How long does it take to set up a Turtleback Trailer?

It depends on the awning and tent, but typically it takes less than a few minutes to set up both.

Can your trailers handle subzero temperatures?

With new advances in lithium batteries, they can now handle subzero temperatures. However, proper preparation for the cold is required. Appropriate sleeping systems, diesel heaters, and other camping necessities are still required for adventures in the cold.

Lead times vary, but the team is ready to build the trailer of your dreams. The standard lead time is 12 weeks. This is from the date of order confirmation to completion date at our factory.

Do you offer an inside sleeping option?

Turtleback Trailers are all roof top ready overland trailers. All trailers accommodate a tent to sleep on the top of the trailer. Turtleback Trailers does not manufacture a sleep inside trailer.

If I add modifications, will my warranty still be valid?

Yes. If modifications do not alter the structural integrity of the trailer, including but not limited to, electrical or water systems, the warranty is still valid.
